Shaping Bonds at IDFA | Het Documentaire Paviljoen, Amsterdam (NL).
For the annual program of Shaping Bonds at Het Documentaire Paviljoen, I am showing an installation comprised of ritual ceramics, Stinky Mirrors, and will also give an opening talk and guide two meditations.
Comprised of ritual ceramics with water, rotting wood trunks, lights, scents and sounds, the installation Stinky Mirrors is part of an ongoing exploration of ways of relating to the less pleasant aspects of our environment. Engraved and sculpted on the surface of the ceramics are slithering depictions of hybrid insect-amphibian creatures, fragments of ancient human cultures, and the anthropogenic symbology of current-day tech-conglomerates. The work Stinky Mirrors presents pools for seeing ourselves and challenges the colonial and capitalist frameworks that render the current anthropogenic demise as a universal human enterprise, forfeiting how historical, material and colonial developments are at the source of it.
Shaping Bonds is also presenting The Book of Silence (Agnieszka Polska). The augmented reality installation Future Botanica (Polymorf), several films, audio-walks, and workshops.

Humans Take Note! — Opening Talk
Interspersing fragments of art, Venus offers a queer and neurodiverse perspective on how the swamp can offer pathways into a deep ecological kinship—one beyond the confines of modernity's framework of the natural world. Exploring the notions of nervous-system regulation and the sacred, the artist asks: how can the swamp offer us templates for recomposing ourselves in times of collapse?

Sink, Rest, Rot — Guided Meditation
A guided meditation shaped through live poetic performance, supported by an ambient musical soundscape. Participants are invited to lie down in the art installation Stinky Mirrors (2026) and participate in the rot that the world around us experiences. Rooted in queer, crip, and ecological thought, artists Moss Berke and Venus Jasper offer a gentle place to grieve collectively, to rest, to make meaning.
